aiPatient is a Manchester-based start-up founded in 2018 by Scott Martin, a qualified doctor and entrepreneur, winner of AIMed Europe Dragon’s Den 2018 and the Manchester Enterprise Centre Official’s Venture Further Award.
Founder Scott Martin also raised £150,000 which was then match-funded by Innovate UK following the company’s successful application through the Regional Angel Investor Accelerator programme, facilitated by NorthInvest in partnership with Innovation SuperNetwork, the North East Business Innovation Centre and UKBAA.
WHAT PROBLEM IS AIPATIENT SOLVING?
aiPatient is an online platform for medics to interact with the first artificially intelligent patients and practice at any time. Developer of medical communication application designed to assist in patient interaction. The company’s software lets tutors and organizations to connect with students and offer them virtual medical training and advice with the help of artificially intelligent patients, monitor student progress through data insights, evaluate curriculum delivery and track progress with gamification, enabling students to receive online medical training by being connected to tutors and virtual patients anytime and from anyplace.
WHAT WAS THE FUNDING USED FOR?
With funding from Innovate UK and the Northern Angel Hub, we will develop and test the feasibility of a Virtual Standardised Patient training platform that supports independent skills-based learning for medical students and practitioners worldwide.
Our aim is to improve communication skills and reduce misdiagnosis and other medical errors; thus, improving patient satisfaction, care, and reducing avoidable NHS costs. With a team composed predominantly of University of Manchester graduates, AiPatient are building on University alumnus Alan Turing’s legacy as the “Father of AI”, ensuring the UK remains world leading in this field.
