NorthInvest was established in 2015 by Prof Adam Beaumont and a year ago took on it’s very first employee. Since then the small team behind this not-for-profit early stage investor business have established a reputation for curating lively, dynamic events that highlight the best of tech in the North.
One year on and whilst we are still learning we are confident that the events we have planned for Autumn and Festive Winter Season will create more conversation, cohesion, and momentum in the Northern tech community. Helping the region to reach its potential and more than rival the South East for innovation.
Immersive Tech Summit
The game-changing benefits of using Immersive Tech have inspired our next tech summit in partnership with KPMG. This event will enable our networks to come together and discuss the future potential of Artificial Intelligence, Augmented Reality and Mixed Reality within a wide range of applications including transport. There will also be discussion around healthtech VR, which is training the next generation of medical professionals and ensuring the highest quality of care. In the area of city planning the University of Leeds, along with Virtuocity, a company which places data and models at the heart of an interactive environment, are accelerating the creation of innovative City planning solutions. Putting user decisions at the heart of the digital experience is what Immersive tech is all about. Expect to hear from these inspirational organisations and try out this innovative tech for yourself with live demonstrations on October 16th, 1-4pm at KPMG offices on Sovereign Street.
Women Investors and Founders Event
According to Pitchbook, ‘Women investors are more likely to invest in women founders,’ here at NorthInvest we are keen on developing gender diversity and raising the profile of women techpreneurs within the Northern Powerhouse. Our established and popular bi-monthly Women Founders and Investors event attracts a wide range of attendees and speakers, so if you’re a woman interested in helping the North reach its potential or a female tech founder wanting to grow your business here this event is for you.It will be an informal get together for female entrepreneurs and investors to share insights about how to make informed investing decisions and how to create a successful pitch. Cyber Security Summit
From the movie sets to our everyday lives, cyber attacks are a reality and they are happening right now. On November 21st from 5.30pm- 7pm, NorthInvest will be hosting our first Cybersecurity event, exploring and exhibiting the most innovative Cyber Security tech in 2018. There will be discussions around the the latest cyber threats, and the future of Cyber, recent government policies on GDPR and Data Protection. This is set to be a fascinating event hosted by our Founder and CyberSecuity expert Prof Adam Beaumont, more details to follow soon.
Our series of Angel Investor invitation only events include our Pitching day on September 6 from 10:30am – 1:00pm. This essential matchmaking with investors and start-ups is absolutely crucial to developing a strong tech ecosystem that drives growth in the North, we want to be at the forefront of this interaction and have advised 85 companies to date on improving their investment potential.
Professor Adam Beaumont, Founder of NorthInvest & aql, is hosting the fourth angel investor dinner on September 3rd from 6pm-9pm at Crafthouse to connect and explore in depth the tech investment opportunities taking shape across the North and beyond. There will be further insights and discussion about previous and future investments and an update on NorthInvest activity.
Ilkley Angel Breakfast
Ilkley Based Angels will be invited to our first Angel Breakfast on October 2nd from 9am-11am to recognise the importance of local relationships, share interests and requirements for co-investment for start-ups that may attract a broader group, and also identify those interested in becoming a lead investor.
By building diverse sector conversation and hosting regular public events we are bringing together a wide range of sector community members to discuss technical, financial and regional strategy approaches, whilst actively supporting and championioning diversity in the Tech start-up ecosystem.
